Delamore Lodge
A wonderful mixture of farmland, forest, beaches, vineyards and olive groves, Waiheke Island is one of the Hauraki Gulf‘s largest destinations. Trace your eyes along the stunning coastline views and you will discover Delamore Lodge, an exclusive retreat molded into the hillside at Owhanake Bay.

Local architects Ron Stevenson and owner Roselyn Barnet-Story have blended Mediterranean architecture with Maori symbolism, building the lodge in the shape of the matsu (the traditional bone fishhook of the Maori people).

Each of the four suites enjoys panoramic views of the bay. Sip a cocktail on the patio or slip into a luxurious bubble bath and admire the ever-changing blue of the Hauraki Gulf. Glide down a sweeping staircase to find the spacious lounge and dinning room, where chef Aaron Smith serves dishes using produce from the hotel’s garden. Waiheke Island’s world-renowned vineyards and olive groves are celebrated with an annual food and wine festival. Ask Aaron kindly, and he will select a special vintage from the wine cellar for you.

Activities feature sailing, diving, kayaking and fishing; simply inhaling the fresh island air creates a sense of inner calm. Any remaining stress is banished with a trip to the hotel’s private spa and grotto-style whirlpool tub. Location: Waiheke Island, Hauraki Gulf, New Zealand.
