Hoopoe Yurt Hotel
Hoopoe Yurt Hotel is a unforgettable place tucked away in a spectacular corner of Andalucia with 7 acres (3 ha) of olive groves and cork oak trees, nestled twenty minutes walk away from the picturesque village of Cortes de la Frontera.

Private view of the mountains are part of the deal for guests staying there. Each yurt – and there are now five – boasts spectacular views of the blue-hazed equipped with hammock, outdoor furniture and private bathroom. Anyone deterred by the thought of alfresco showering and trips to the outside compost toilet could do well to suspend judgment. Your flower-strewn meadow really is private.

The Hoopoe Yurt Hotel is for anyone who relishes spending time outside, far away from modern trappings yet within walking distance of bars and shops. It is difficult to imagine a more restorative sanctuary. You will wake to the sounds of goat bells plus an army of resident birds: sparrow hawks, turtle doves, and honey buzzards. It may all be wonderfully back to nature and environmentally friendly, but the yurts are large and comfortable, with indoor furniture in case the weather falters.

Foodies will rejoice. Young British owners Ed and Henrietta organize a three-course, locally sourced, mostly organic meal with wine four days a week. Dinner is enjoyed under a pergola, lit by Chinese lanterns, perched by the swimming pool.
