Hapuna Beach, Hawaii
Hapuna Beach State Recreation Area is a large park and sandy beach on the Big Island of Hawaii. Hapuna Beach is located in Hapuna Bay, at the north end of the beautiful Kohala Coast. Hapuna Beach State Park is part of a 61-acre park, forms a ½-mile crescent of glistening white sand beach guarded by rocky points at either end. Hapuna Beach is probably the most famous beach on the Big Island, and regularly voted one of the prettiest beaches in the world.
There is easy access to the water, full facilities, crystal clear water and beautiful scenery.
Hapuna Beach is about a half a mile long and 200 feet wide.There are also some pretty cool lava tubes or cave to explore in the cliff side. The beach faces almost directly towards the west, so you will almost always be treated to amazing sunsets.
The largest of our island’s white sand beaches, it offers consistently good conditions for swimming, body-boarding, sunbathing, strolling and snorkeling. Rent an umbrella and chair at the park office to give yourself a break from the sun.
Services: Restrooms, picnic pavilions, picnic tables, lodging, trash cans, drinking water, payphone, lifeguard services. Camping permits are available. From the north end of the beach you can view the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel.
