Few places can boasts about of solitude like the wild panoramas of Patagonia, near the southern tip of South America, where the treeless uninhabitable steppes roll out interminably, and the silence is broken only by the wind. For visitors preferring white coon and soft blankets, there is no finer perch from which to contemplate the Patagonian wilderness than Eolo.
Its seventeen suites all have vast picture windows framing breathtaking views across the empty plains and boundless skies, punctuated only by lakes, mountains and on a clear day – the pointy peaks of Torres del Paine straddling the border with Chile.
The luxury lodge is set on a 4,000-acre (1,618-ha) cattle. The rooms are the height of comfort (king-sized beds, fluffy towels), the decor is stylish and discreet and the helpful staff and all-inclusive rates eliminate the merest hint of hassle. Staff will even prepare you a gourmet lunch box.
Eolo redefines the vacation cliche ”getting away from it all”. There is no television in the bedrooms, otherwise the view offers something considerably more engaging.
