Train of the Clouds

This is a train service that connects the Salta Province, Argentina with the border with Chile in the Andes mountain range. A major Argentinean attraction, this railroad, reaching almost 4,220 m above sea level, is one of the three highest in the world. The tour includes thirteen viaducts, over 29 bridges, two zigzags, two curls and nineteen tunnels, unique works of their kind.


One of the most amazing railway services will transport you directly to the clouds during its 217 km itinerary. Its engineer is Richard Fontaine Maury. The railway is the only public transport used by their local inhabitants but also average of 30,000 tourists visit the train each year.

The train runs from April to November and departs from Salta every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.
