When you wake up in Corumbau and decide it would be nice to walk the length of the private beach, you better make sure you take some water with you because this is no ordinary resort beach. It stretches for more than a mile along the Bahia coastline with another 5 miles of uninhabited beaches on either side. There is a coral reef breaking just offshore, and you can dive its aquamarine waters and come face-to-face with the plant life. Photo by: Fabio Said

Brazils Bahia coast also known as the coconut coast is a 124 mile (200-km) stretch of beautiful beaches and coconut groves and the ranch sits within one of these groves. Its six spacious bungalows are elegantly furnished in dark Brazilian timbers, and all have private terraces. There are also two suites in the main house, and both offer dramatic ocean views. Traditional, gourmet seafood dishes are included in the room rate and are prepared fresh each day. Photo by: tavanosilvana

A large outdoor pool is surrounded by a deck that leads to a square, sunken outdoor lounge area with stylistic references to the architecture of ancient Maya temples. After you swim take a stroll to the surrounding virgin mangrove swamp to a nearby Pataxos Indian village. The Pataxos people were the first South American tribe to make contact with Europeans. You can get to Fazenda Sao Francisco from all major Brazilian cities via Porto Seguno and from there by seaplane, boat, schooner, car or helicopter. Photo by: Kittysis
