Zandoli Inn
Like the small native lizard it is named after, Zandoli Inn bathes in the sun by the rocks on the southeast coast of Dominica. It is a small hotel, rather like a villa, with five rooms and a plunge pool, surrounded by 2.4 ha of rain forest and whispers of the sea. As the sun goes down, the heavy scent of ylang-ylang wafts in through the gauzy curtains hanging between your open veranda and the simple yet stylish bedroom. Photo by: Julie1009

Zandoli Inn is located just 13 miles from Roseau on the island’s southeast coast, but feels farther. With wonderful hiking trails in its grounds and beyond, it is easy to lose yourself in the forest among palms, vanilla vines, nutmeg, and avocado trees. With only five rooms in the hotel, staying there is an intimate experience. The boulder shoreline is a popular meditation spot, and Zandoli is a famous honeymoon spot, too. Importantly there are no televisions, radios, or telephones in the whole place. Photo by: warmpanda

This is a fresh water plunge pool to help you cool off, which is treated with chemicals that are kind to the environment, and water for the showers is heated by the sun. You can enjoy fresh local fruit as well as plenty of local specials in the evening, when a delicious meal is served. Photo by: Steven House Photography
