The Cape Byron Lighthouse

The Cape Byron Lighthouse is the most easterly positioned lighthouse in the Australia. Constructed of prefabricated concrete blocks in 1901, it‘s one of the most powerful. Located only 2km east of the town of Byron Bay, the lighthouse stands on a bald rocky headland and offers incredible views. Once on Cape Byron you will be able to see even the surfers on Main Beach. The cape is also a popular spot with adrenaline seekers and you will see a lot of kites on the water and in the air. Adrenalin junkies can hire a hang glider and glide down to the beach from the lighthouse. This will cost you about 100 AUD for 20 or 30 minutes. Photograph: Winsome Bonham
