Piran, Slovenia

Piran is a small, ancient walled town on the Istrian coast of Slovenia, between the Alps and the Adriatic. The town with its cobble stone streets (not changed in 400 years) is one big attraction. Long tradition and multicultural environment has made this coastal city a special place to visit.

Piran has original town architecture with a partly preserved town wall with seven mighty towers, a symbol of the past power and pride of the city. The elegant town square is focused on a statue of Tartini – an 18th Century composer, violinist and native of Pirano. The most beautiful building at the square is a Venetian Gothic Cathedral from the first half of the 15th century.

The view over Tartini Square is spectacular – breathtaking view over the town and the blue sea. Piran Town Museum contains valuable art works and archeological, historical and ethnological exhibits with special departments for seamanship, fishing and the history of the Piran salt-works.
