The only official way of visiting Honopu Beach is by swimming. Inaccessible by land and impossibly magical, this treasure of a beach has ensured the scenery of many films, among them King Kong, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and South Pacific. Two deep, golden beaches guarded by steep mountain rock and the charming milky-blue waters of the South Pacific are connected by extremely large stone arch in the rock face, before which a waterfall cascades like a curtain. Lake Powell is an artificial pond, created in 1960s toward the controversial scheme to dam the Colorado River to fill the Grand Canyon with water. Today few could deny that this unnatural landscape is a breathtaking sight. Crystal-clear turquoise waters reflect the towering rich-red canyon walls that go up from the water, scatter among wondrous arches, magnificent spires, sandstone butters, as well as countless inlets and sandy beaches. Kamakura is an ancient city, just 50 km from Tokyo, but it feels like at the end of the world. There are no high-rise buildings or neon bars there. Once the city was the capital of Japan, during the shogunate from 1185 to 1333, and the fourth-largest city in the world. It’s a wonderful destination, ideal for day trippers from Tokyo, stopping there to enjoy the cooling sea breezes, while they visit the Buddhist temples and Shinto shrines. Photo by: kiri-fuda

The is something really special and extraordinary in the Sarojin. Its heart, an ancient fig tree dominating impressively over the lagoon on one hand, and the ocean on the other. The fig gazes kindly upon its reflection in a peaceful pond – another aspect of eternity and nature.

There is something unusual in the Dyfi Forest. As dawn breaks over Wales, the sun picks out a strange array of shapes and colours. In the middle of the forest, there is a 21-foot-diameter North-American tepees and on 18-foot Mongolian style yurt. The camp is undoubtedly a low-tech experience, with private toilets and solar shower bags to provide you with warm water.
