Winter Garden, Sheffield

The Winter Garden has created a stunning green world in the heart of the city. The Sheffield Winter Gardens is one of the largest temperate glasshouses to be built in the UK . The greenhouse is home to more than 2000 plants including Japanese sago palms, Abyssinian banana trees, Australian tree fern, bamboo and screw pine. The Winter Garden also provides a home for the Bessamar Gallery and offers a welcome stop for coffee and light refreshments.

The building itself is 70 metres long and 22 metres high (large enough to house 5000 domestic greenhouses).

The structure of timber arches and glass is one of the largest glasshouses built in the last century and incorporates seating, shops and performance area.

The Winter Garden is open: Daily from 08:00hrs to 18:00hrs. Admission: Free!
