Big Sky Resort

Big Sky Resort is the biggest place you’ve ever skied. The place is situated in Rocky Mountain Ski Resort, Montana. During the summer season Big Sky Resort is the basecamp to Yellowstone National Park. There’s rarely more than a few seconds’ lift waiting at this resort, except when waiting for the marquee-15-person tram that takes skiers to the top of 11,166-foot Lone Peak.

The resort comprises three mountains and nearly 4,000 skiable acres, with a correspondingly huge menu of terrain. From the resort’s top, a snowboarder or skier can drop into the black-diamond slopes of Liberty Bowl and ride all the way down to this winter’s new Dakota triple chair. But one of the greatest developments at Big Sky has been the linking with an adjacent resort, Moonlight Basin, which makes a total of 5,512-acre playground that gets 400 inches of snow a year.

Children 10 and under ski free at Big Sky Resort. If the kids still aren’t tuckered out once the lifts close, head for the Family Fun Zone in the base area, which has tubing and a small terrain park.
