Uig Sands

Uig Sands is one of Britain‘s most remote but beautiful bays, and there are twenty other beaches within walking distance. Just next to this remote beauty a hotel stands with a maximum of sixteen guests. This is a chance to escape to your own beach. However, rather than sunbathing and swimming in the waves, you also will be walking, picnicking, spotting birds and wildflowers, fishing, photographing, exploring and just breathing the fresh air of the Atlantic. When it is time to go back inside, there is always the cozy atmosphere waiting for you. The hotel has a historic fame, and has been created from the former big old house plus its stables and outbuildings. There are three sitting rooms, one with TV and one with stereo, and one with billiards and foosball. If the weather is cold, there are board games, jigsaw puzzles and books. If the weather is windy, bring your kite, if you are kite-surfer of course. Photo by: 58-north

Meals are very delicious, using plenty of local produce. There are enormous Scottish breakfasts and the dinner is five-course, no menu feast, and the bedrooms are warm, cozy, and unpretentious. At Baile na Cille, a sense of remote escape pervades everything, and you will definitely not forget your cell phone to work here. Photo by: Frank72
