Calistoga Ranch
The first thing you notice when you visit Calistoga Ranch, located just two hours from San Francisco, is just how incredibly big at all is. The size of the site is 157 acres, but it is within a region so large you are guaranteed some extra visitors. Everything from deer to rattlesnakes can be seen.

The forty-six rooms at the ranch nestle in Californian pines and boast peerless views of the surrounding terrain. The smallest dwellings offer some 600 square m of space and include outdoor showers, and the largest of them all is the Eagle Lodge – a whopping 2,400 square m right on the gorgeous banks of Lake Lommel.

The Estate Lodge, with its private bedrooms, indoor and outdoor living room, two half baths, two fireplaces, and an outdoor hot tub, is a natural choice for honey mooners.

There is a guests-only dining room, where chef Eric Webster impresses with simple, high-quality American cuisine. The nearby Napa Valley is renowned for its wines, but the resort also has its own private vineyard and offer wine-testing classes and tours of the wine caves and vineyard.

Cars are not allowed on Calistoga Ranch, so the transportation comes in shade of golf carts. There is no chance of being disturbed by traffic noise when you relaxing in the Bathhouse, Calistoga’s natural spa, which draws water from local hot springs and promotes a variety of boutique treatments.

The yoga deck and pool offer views onto the vineyard; both are wonderful ways to start or end the day at one of the United States’s classiest ranches.
