Full of art, it is an excellent place from which to explore the region of Puglia.

 Piazza del Duomo

One of its most significant places in all of Italy is the Cathedral Square (Piazza del Duomo). This is a beautiful square where you’ll find the Cathedral of the Madonna Assunta. Originally it was built in 1144 and then totally restored in 1659 when the 70-meter high bell tower was added. Others places to interest include Lecce’s ancient Library, the Amphitheatre from the Roman Ages and many magnificent churches and palaces. The historic center is a great place for walking and its restaurants and bars offer fine food typical of Puglia.
