Ribbon Falls, California

Of these Ribbon Falls is most definitely one. The Falls is thought to be the largest single-drop waterfall in the United States.

It’s located next to El Capitan and can be viewed from the meadows in the Yosemite Valley. It is fed by a small tributary of the Merced River and is dry or a mere trickle except during spring rains or when the snows thaw.

Its base is over 1500 feet above the valley floor, and its top more than 3000. It’s 140 feet long and 20 feet wide, a ribbon of thin, white water dancing very fast down a 23 degree slope into a rock basin.

The cliff face is a grayish tan color surrounding the falls. It is a marvellous micro-environment.

With a wide-angle lens, you might even be able to capture it along with Bridalveil Fall framing Yosemite Valley.
