Whenever you book a “castle” hotel, there are trade offs. Rooms tend to be a bit small, the castle layouts can be confusing, but the overall elegance of the public rooms and grounds should compensate. In the case of Ashford Castle, they do. Service is excellent, the staff makes an effort to get to know your name and I found them to be very helpful. The grounds are spectacular with gardens, miles of walking trails and the setting on the lake adds to the feeling that one could be a guest at a country estate. The only suggestions are that the spa dressing rooms are below par, as are the spa amenities in general. The actual massage I received was excellent. Service in the lounge for drinks was quite slow after dinner. I enjoyed my stay, and would definitely return.

Great post on one of my favourite places!
Ashford castle is one of the most popular hotels in Ireland. At myguideIreland we get so many Guests who will stay in budget B&B’s for up to 2 weeks just to splash out on one night at Ashford Castle!
