A 20th century version of the Arch de Triumph

The Grande Arch is a majestic modern building in the heart of French capital – Paris. It was built in 1989 for the anniversary of the French Revolution. The project to build was initiated by the French president Francois Mitterrand and its creator is Danish architect – Otto van Spreckelsen. The Great Arch is located in La Defense business district, in a direct line to the Arch of Triumph.

La Defense is a modern business district with some 150,000 corporate employees, a huge shopping mall, and the world’s largest public-transportation center. The Grand Arch is a 106 meters high white cube with the middle part left open. The sides of the cube contain offices. There is an elevator to the top of the Great Arch, from where you have a nice view of Paris.

There are hundreds of restaurants, snack bars, fast food frozen-burger places, bars, wine-bars, cafes, pizzerias, sandwich bars.
