Avenue of Baobabs

The baobabs are some of the largest and most attractive trees in the world, some 50m in height. They are truly magical trees. The Avenue of the Baobabs is located in Madagascar, close to the town of Morondava. It is a charming alley lined with majestic baobab trees, soaring 30 m into the sky. It is the most visited and photographed baobabs in the world.

Baobab trees can be up to 800 years old and are known as “mother of the forest” in Madagascar. The trees offer protective and pleasant shade, making the Avenue a popular place to rest during the day.

The baobabs can store up to 120,000 liters of water, enabling them to survive periods of drought. At sunset, the avenue is often crowded with tourists taking photographs of magnificent baobab silhouettes.
