Family Vacations: Shedd Aquarium

Chicago’s Shedd Aquarium is located in the Grant Park Museum Complex at Lake Shore Drive. Shedd is home to thousands of invertebrates, fishes, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals.

Aquarium has added several permanent exhibits to the main aquarium, effectively doubling its size and is now one of the premier aquariums in the country. The aquarium contains over 25,000 fish, representing more than 700 species from all parts of the world.

The oceanarium contains Beluga whales, sea otters and seals, but the stars here are the Pacific white-sided dolphins.

Shedd Aquarium offers experiences from awe-inspiring whales, frolicking sea otters and lively penguins, to streamlined sharks, exotic eels and thousands of amazing animals.

Here are some more of the incredible (and incredibly beautiful) things you can see at an ocean reef.

Shedd Aquarium offers a special event for 3-5 year-old preschoolers – “Tots on Tuesdays”.
