Pierrot Gourmet, Chicago

Thick wood tables for communal dining stretch down the middle of this room, surrounded by smaller tables. There’s a communal table where up to 20 guests can eat.

The affordable array of 63 wines starts at $26, with limited but interesting by-the-glass choices, which start at $7.

The menu includes salads, signature sourdough tartines, homemade cakes and dessert specialties.

Though on the pricey side, Pierrot is a pleasant place for a light meal.
