The sacred bridge – Shinkyo is located between the town of Nikko and its main shrines, Japan. It’s a red lacquered bridge over to the Daiya River and considered for one of the most beautiful structures in
Japan. From the bridge the road leads into the park through 16,000 towering cedar trees. Shinkyo was registered as the
UNESCO World Heritage in December 1999.

The legend sad that the hermit – Priest Shodo could not cross over the Daiya river for his mission to climb Mount Nantai, and implored the gods for help. The God of snake – Jinjaou, appeared from the clouds when Shodo burned a holy fire to ask help and cast down a snakes from bank to bank which formed a bridge.
