
Beauty, mild beaches, clear lakes, fast rivers and gorgeous mountains – like you can in the small
Republic of Montenegro. This little country is part of the Balkans and part of the Mediterranean, near Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina,
Croatia,
Italy and
Albania. Despite its small size there are so many contrasts and so much natural beauty. The total length of the spectacular Montenegrin coastline is 290 kilometers, 73 km of which are sandy beaches. Some beaches are kilometers long or only a couple of tens of meters.

Between 1945 and 2003, Montenegro was a Republic of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia respectively. Till the May 2006 used to be two constituent states of the state union of Serbia and Montenegro. In 2006, Montenegro gained independence in the referendum. So union with Serbia was terminated.

Montenegro’s tourism had suffered greatly from unrests and wars in surrounding countries in the 1990s, as Balkans had been considered generally unsafe by tourists from the west. In recent years, along with the stabilized situation in the region, tourism in Montenegro began to recover, and
Montenegro is being re-discovered by tourists from around the globe.

Montenegro offer a good mix of historical attractions and modern amenities, making it suitable for both business and leisure travelers. In particular, the coastline along the Adriatic was singled out as a good place to visit, due to its “dramatic” scenery and “beautiful” sandy beaches.
