Cantor Roof Garden

Cantor Roof Garden is a part of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. That spot is fabulous for its outdoor sculpture show with panoramic views over the Central Park and the Manhattan. This exhibition presents three spectacular works by the popular Pop artist Jeff Koons.

Each of the sculptures is enlarged and glossily lacquered. For instance the toy dog is made of twisted-together balloons, the chocolate valentine heart is wrapped in red foil and the silhouette of Piglet from a ‘’Winnie the Pooh’’ coloring book is randomly colored as if by a small kid.

By the way they all mean something!? The “Balloon Dog (Yellow)” is a Trojan Horse, which seems innocent but is loaded with aesthetic and erotic perversity. “Sacred Heart (Red/Gold)” acidly comments on the commercial debasement of emotional and religious experience. “Coloring Book” reflects the youth-obsessed infantilism of modern culture and society.
