Oxford

Oxford is a spectacular city situated in North West of London. The city is romantic but also visitors will experience the crowd, which is always there. Tourists will be amused by never-ending steam of buses and the fast-flowing pedestrian traffic.

During the whole year, you can take a tour of the colleges, many of which represent a peak in England’s architectural history. Just to mentioned that Oxford University is better known for the arts, Cambridge is more for the sciences (My advice is you shouldn’t talk about Cambridge there).

In the early part of 10th century Oxford was a Saxon town. By the 12th century the city was developing as a seat of learning, at the expense of Paris. The story of Oxford is filled with conflicts which are too complicated to use my own judgement now.

Nowadays is a peaceful place with a load of students strolling all over the city. The best way to explore Oxford is on foot- take a 2-hour walking tour through the city and the major colleges. For instance the tours leave daily from the Oxford Tourist Information Centre at 11am and 2am.

By the way many tourists arrived at Oxford and asked where was the campus?!!Hmm Oxford University is, in fact, made up of 35 colleges spattered throughout the town. To tour all of them it’ll be hard effort. It’s better to focus on just a few of well-known colleges.

So probably all day walking around will be extremely exhausted. There’re some good places which will feed you up and give you energy for the next day. One of them is The Head of the River, near by Westgate Centre Mall. It’s a lively place, where guests may sit by the river and also rent a boat with an engine.Twelve rooms, all with bathrooms and overlooking the river, are available for £78 to £95 in summer, including breakfast, newspaper, and parking.

I think the people of Oxford would be surprised to discover that they live in the North West of England. Oxford is in fact in the south of England. Quite important point I thought!
