Blue Mountains, Australia

Blue Mountains are located in Australia and also set into the wonderful landscape, surrounded by trails for hiking (the entire area is about 2,5 million acres).

There’re a hundred people a year which have to be pulled out of the Blue Mountains for that reason there’re cellphones signals everywhere. As well as the area has very rich history, including the fact that a large portion of the forest had burned down entirely. The Grand Canyon and the Valley of the Waters are also part of the Blue Mountains.

The history of the canyon is very interesting one. According to some explorers Aborigines lived in these caves as recently as 100 years ago, isolated from European settlers who were colonizing the rest of New South Wales. If you stop for a break into these caves you will noticed early aged-painted walls.

A short distance to the caves is situated the town of Katoomba, which is splendid paradise filled with cafes, restaurants, shops. The city is also flooded by the flock of visitors, both Australian and foreign.

My advice where to hike is: Tread Lightly, which offers guided half- or full-day bush walks, for all levels of fitness, throughout the Blue Mountains, including night tours. A four-hour Grand Canyon trek is 135 Australian dollars a person.

Where to eat: Silk’s Brasserie is on the main street of Leura not far from galleries and boutiques. At the restaurant, decorated with ocher walls and a black-and-white-tiled floor, seasonal starters include a salmon tartare with caviar (21 Australian dollars), while main courses include a braised breast of corn-fed chicken on baked polenta (31 dollars), and tenderloin of grain-fed beef with baby English spinach (36 dollars), all served with local wines.
