Berkeley
Berkeley is a charming town with all types of people, a beautiful campus, vast parks, great shopping, and some incredible restaurants. The city is located on the east shore of San Francisco Bay in Northern California, in the United States.
The University of California at Berkeley is worth a stroll. It’s an amazing place with plenty of paths, buildings and, of course, 33,000 students, many of them scurrying to and from classes. While walking in the campus visitors will notice beautiful buildings such as Bernard Maybeck, Bakewell and Brown, and John Galen Howard.
If you get hungry Berkeley’s food scene has blossomed well beyond student hangouts. The most delicious place is O Chamé, which is classy Japanese and its unpretentious crowd makes you feel as though you’re eating in someone’s home. Try the onion pancakes, soba platters or grilled eel. As well as reservations are suggested.
One absolutely fantastic feature is that at Berkeley you can stroll into The Pacific Film Archive Museum. There you will find films ranging from a French New Wave festival to a collection of shorts from West Africa. The Pacific Film Archive offers one of the most eclectic moviegoing experiences in the Bay Area. The archive is particularly strong on Japanese cinema.
At the end travellers can relaxed in the Tilden Park, which is a 2,000-acre preserve that includes several peaks and numerous trails open for mountain biking. Or you can just take in the view.
