New Delhi is the capital of India. The city is a mixture of ruins and an example of Maghal architecture. The new flourishing has brought to the city a thriving contemporary art scene. Several glleries are within a 15-minute ride into South Delhi and new exhibitions usually open on Fridays.
For people who don’t prefer walking, there’re many others ways to sightseeing around Delhi. There’re an-auto rickshaw maneuvers through the evening rush hour.
One of the best attractions in Delhi is the Red Fort located in old Delhi, which was built by the Emperor Shah Jahan as his royal palace. It’s best to visit the fort in the early morning, when the light is the most glorious and the crowds smaller.
If you get hungry you can walk into the Kinari Bazaar in old Delhi. This Bazaar is a crafters paradise with shops which offers everything from haberdashery to beads to weeding turbans. The streets around the Kinari Bazaar are an oasis of calm, with colorfully painted mansions and temples belonging to the Jain faith.
Two of India’s most innovative designers are located at the Lodhi Colony Main Market. Another high end boutique at the Lodhi Colony Main Market is Manish Arora where the styles are cheeky and loud. The city’s pièce de résistance is the quiet sanctuary of the Lodhi Gardens in New Delhi. Here an early morning walker passes Muhammad Shah’s tomb which dates to the mid 15th century.
