Karachi is the largest city in
Pakistan and the capital of the province of Sindh. The city is located on the coast of the Arabian Sea, northwest of the mouths of the Indus River. It is a bustling center of commerce and industry with a major port on the
Arabian Sea and an International Airport which is a major link on all east and west air routes. With a population of approximately 16 million,
Karachi is the third most populous city in the world.

 The
Clifton beach in Karachi is one of the longest city beaches in the world. Althought it suffered a recent oil spill disaster, the beach has been cleaned and has floodlights installed for night-time visitors.

Â
In 1960s Karachi was seen as a model of economic development around the world, and there was much praise for the way its economy was progressing, but now being one of the most rapidly growing cities in the world,
Karachi faces
problems that are central to many developing metropolises including overpopulation, overcrowding, traffic, terrorism and crime.
