Hoover Dam
Hoover Dam, located on the Colorado River, on the borders of Nevada and Arizona, has a length of 1,244 feet and a height of 726 feet. Hoover Dam was for many years the largest dam in the world. It is now one of the most interesting attractions in the west and a major tourist attraction. Hoover Dam is 30 miles from Las Vegas. It is a popular day trip. Close to 1,000,000 visitors a year take the tour and millions more drive across the dam.

Viewing this magnificent, massive man made structure creates a respect for man’s accomplishments. The strong desire to harness nature’s power drove the human mind and body to build Hoover Dam in the hottest, driest area of the United States. In doing so, the seasonal flooding of the Colorado River was eliminated and millions of people now have drinking water and irrigation during the dry season.
OPERATING HOURS: Open 9:00 AM – Close 5:00 PM
The Hoover Dam Visitor Center is open every day of the year except for
