[...] Planning your summer excitement? Although the new Skywalk on the west side of the Grand Canyon isn’t exactly in Scottsdale, it’s worth consideration for a long weekend if you live in Scottsdale or Phoenix. Located at Grand Canyon West on the Hualapai Indian Reservation, the Grand Canyon Skywalk is owned and operated by the Hualapai tribe, which is hoping for an economic boost from the new landmark. An engineering marvel or a colossal eyesore, the horseshoe-shaped glass walkway is jut out 70 feet beyond the canyon’s edge, with the Colorado River sitting 4000 feet below it. It can comfortably accommodate 100 – 120 people. Buttressed by 1 million pounds of steel and supporting 90 tons of tempered glass, the see-through deck give visitors a breathtaking view of the canyon and includes stabilizers that limit the structure’s movement in the wind and in the event of an earthquake..
we've been there on May'09. Comparing $90 SKYWALK for 20min -which was not as glamorous as it seems on the pics of it- and &180 fascinating Helicopter Ride taking you down to the river side -an enchanting boat tour included to the price- we took the helicopter tour. When you get there -Eagle Lookout-, you'll see "its not worth" to get on that battered and unimproved structure on which you'll only have a specific view -without a camera; "bullshit"- But weighing a little less than others; you'll get the front seat on the helicopter, will sea what awesome is, really, and also how grand the Grand Canyon is!!

I went there on April 20 /09 with my wife for our vacation/ 28th anniversary. I thought it was awesome and then some. Being one who is afraid to get up and string Christmas lights on my house naturally I was terrified, but once my wife dragged me out there if was freaking awesome. Our bus tour from Vegas went to Eagle Lookout (that is where the Skywalk is.) and we were able to take pictures of the Eagle in the buttes and also took pictures right up to going into the Skywalk gift shop. You cannot take pictures on the Skywalk although the pictures you can purchase were somewhat expensive. I loved the experience. I hope to return some day and take my Grandchildren with me. Freaking AWESOME!

You guys are all idiots. It's up to $60 dollars and I'M definitely going. Seriously, you people have absolutely no concept of adventure do you? Sixty bucks for a chance to walk 4,000 feet above the grand canyon versus 500 bucks to take a helicopter ride at that same height. To stand 4x higher than any other manmade object in the world and be able to look down without taking a plane is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

It makes me sad and angry that people have become so used to sitting behind their computers getting fat and lazy that they have absolutely no desire to go out and experience things they may never get a chance to do in their lives. Be daring. Do something different for a change. What's $60 bucks in the grand scheme of things? They're just pieces of paper you exchange for experiencing something you can never duplicate on a computer screen or an xbox.
