The trick in the stellar sky and the sea with one piano-bar
With a reputation established over half a century ago as the island’s premier venue for fine evening entertainment, the Lanterna Verde occupies an important place in Anacapri’s history of hospitality, a symbol of that splendid era when the name “Capri” began to spread all over the world. This fascinating tavern bar of the Hotel San Michele was built in to the limestone rock face manually, without the use of sophisticated machinery.
Those entering the Lanterna Verde as night falls are struck by the magical atmosphere and the impression of being right beneath the star specked sky, as if suspended between the cliffs and the sea below.
The bar of the hotel, the Lanterna Verde was entirely renovated and refurbished in the year 2002, exactly 50 years after its first opening. Over the year the tavern has come to represent part of the history of hospitality in Anacapri, a symbol of that era in which the legend of Capri spread around the world. The building was constructed without the the use of machinery, dug manually out of the chalky white rock face. Entering the Laterna Verde one has the impression of being immersed in the magical atmosphere of Capri by night, as if seated beneath a star specked sky between the cliffs and the sea.
The wine cellar houses the best of national and international wines and range of superb fortified wines and spirits.
