Joini in with the Gallic fun in Park Asterix

Park Asterix is a theme amusement park in France, based on the stories of Asterix and Obelix. Situated approximately 35 km north of Paris in Plailly in the department of Oise, it opened in 1989. The park offers its visitors an excellent mixture of rides, shows, and cartoon characters. In all there are 28 main attractions, so you’ll be hard pushed to fit everything in during a one day visit. There are around 30 permanent rides at the park, as well as regular shows to entertain visitors. Magic and crazy, the cinema-theatre is launched at Parc Asterix!

Themed areas include a Gaul village, Roman and Greek zones, and an old style Paris boulevard full of street entertainers. Live shows are staged throughout the day, with everything from comedy to performing dolphins. And almost needless to say, the lovable cartoon characters that give the park its theme keep popping up everywhere.

The newest attractions include the Gaulish Village – a settlement of 16 huts and an exact replica of the one Albert Uderzo drew for the original comic book – and The Druids School, open to little imps from the age of three years. Here apprentice wizards can learn how to turn rabbits into hens, hens into rabbits and Romans into goats. Park Asterix is the embodiment of the original Gaulish village and the crazy antics and adventures of the cartoon heroes Asterix and Obelix. Here, you’ll find seven zany-zones packed full of amazing attractions, restaurants and crazy surprises for the smallest and largest of Gauls (and Brits!).
The Asterix park also leads you in a distracting way through history. Rides are named Flight of Icarus, Caesar’s Spies, and Descent Along the Styx. The latest attraction is the La Trace du Hourra, which is a bobsled-type ride that races down a tube of metal sheeting at 54 kph. Visitors can embark on a terrific journey at speeds of over 80kph on the giant wooden roller coaster Tonnerre de Zeus, or take a daring slide back into prehistoric times aboard La Trace du Horra. This unique attraction takes thrill-seekers on a twisting, turning journey aboard a bobsleigh, through a metal chute at a speed of 54kph.
