Hardanger Fjord, which is located 75km east of Bergen, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Norway. This is the waterfall that represented Norway during Expo 2000 in Hannover Although the road down passes through several tunnels, the old road remains as a tourist attraction, a legacy of bold highway engineers.

The culture and the traditions are strong in Hardanger. The Hardangervidda Natursenter is perhaps the most modern nature and heritage experience centres in Norway. The nature centre provides information about, and lets you experience, geology, botany, glaciology, zoology, archaeology and ornithology. The Hardangervidda Natursenter at Eidfjord is an unusual experience. Hardanger Folk Museum in Utne focuses on the past and the present.
