The tropes are located 60 km south of Berlin and 100 km north of Dresden. Housed in a former zeppelin hangar, soaring to 107 metres, the structure spans over 710,000 square feet and is the largest freestanding building in the world. With a length of 360 meters, a width of 210 meters and a height of 107 meters, it is large enough to hold 8 entire soccer fields. It can accommodate up to 7000 visitors. At the Tropical Islands you will find white sand beaches, the world’s largest indoor rain forest, a blue lagoon, the South Sea even with its islands, a complete tropical village, show and culture, sports and fun, all at a pleasant temperature of some 25°C. It’s in the biggest self-supporting dome in the world! The Tropical Islands dome has a ground surface of 66,000 square meters.

Visitors can escape the winter blues with a dip in the “sea”, which is as big as four Olympic-sized swimming pools. After dark, the pool is romantically illuminated. Gushing waterfalls, bubbling whirlpools and colourful street markets with exotic fruits and flowers complete this extraordinary experience. The Tropical Village is built with authentic houses from the most beautiful tropical regions of the world. All houses were constructed on site at the Tropical Islands by craftsmen from their respective home countries. In the afternoons, dancers and artists are performing on the Wayang stage.

The 25-meter high water slide tower will be loved by all the family! It has four different water slides, ranging from a leisurely family slide to a high-speed power slide reaching speeds of up to 70 km/h! The lagoon at the Tropical Islands was designed by Made Wijaya, the most famous living designer of Balinese gardens. Sand stone, wood and palm trees, rocks, balinese huts, a kulkut (watch tower), grottos and the typical mokey hill will take you to Bali, the island of the gods. Find relaxation and well-being through a professional massage – between the Sout Sea restaurant and the Bali Lagoon.

The rain forest covers a swift hill, with about 20,000 plants of more than 500 species, and trees measuring up to 14 metres. The humidity of the air is a pleasant 50 %, which is moderate. Hidden paths, orchids and climbing plants, little bridges over mangrove swamps, a waterfall into the lagoon – and to top it all you will discover a fine panoramic view of Tropical Islands.

On 365 days a year there’s fun at the Tropical Islands – on weekends and during school vacation even on 24 hours a day! With rain forest safari and kid’s club, water games and entertainment, massages and shopping. And if you feel like it, you simply stay and sleep on the beach or in a tent! Inside the world’s biggest self- supporting hall, visitors can enjoy a wide range of sports and stunning shows featuring dancers from all over the world. If you really don’t want to leave, you can stay the night and sleep on the beach beneath the palm trees.
