The stadium of the most known football teams - Milan

The stadium underwent further renovations for the 1990 World Cup with $60m being spent, bringing the stadium up to standard. As part of the renovations, the stadium became all seated, with an extra tier being added to 3 sides of the stadium. This entailed the building of 11 concrete towers around the outside of the stadium. Four of these concrete towers located at the corner support a new roof which has distinctive protruding red girders.

The four angular towers are 51 meters high and interrupt the continuity of the upper level of tiers in order to sustain the roof’s main supporting beams. These red-colored metallic beams extend along the perimeter of the stadium and have a rectangular structure. They intersect at the four corners of the stadium and extend to the exterior. The main supporting beams are 9.5 meters high.

The San Siro staged the opening match of the 1990 World Cup, in which Cameroon beat the world champions, Argentina, 1-0. Other games played here included the second-round match between West Germany and Holland (2-1) and the quarter-final between West Germany and Czechoslovakia (1-0). Internationale themselves won the European Cup here in 1965, defeating Benfica 1-0. The stadium has hosted numerous European and UEFA Cup finals and also has its own Museum detailing the history of Inter Milan, AC Milan and the Stadium and is definitely worth a visit.
