This Central American country lies between Nicaragua to the north and Panama to the south. Costa Rica is an exotic vacation destination that has secluded white sand beaches. On the tour, you get to visit the lush rain forests and pristine beaches. While on a trip to Costa Rica, you can either go in for a rain forest canopy tour, whitewater rafting or can just relax at the beach. The Tortuguero National Park is 51,870 acres and one of the last large areas of tropical rain forest in Central America. Monkeys, storks, and river otters can often be seen along the water in addition to more than 300 species of birds.

Tortuga Lodges main reason for existence is to provide excellent accommodations for people interested in experiencing Tortuguero National Park. There are 25 rooms, of which 15 are deluxe with private bathrooms, 24-hour electricity, a dining room with a bar, hammock lounge area and nature trails, and even a new pool with wonderful river views. The lodge is close to the Tortuguero National Park, which protects one of the last large areas of tropical rain forest in Central America. The park’s beaches are a prime nesting ground for Green Sea Turtles, which you can witness come ashore to lay their eggs between June and October.
Each room has two double beds, private bathroom with hot water shower and a front porch with rocking chairs and hammocks. Tortuga Lodge’s restaurant starts at the river dock and reluctantly moves inland. The general manager calls guests by name, and the chef can prepare basic dishes that aren’t on the simple set menu. Designed to blend into the river environment, the pool features an environmentally friendly purification system that uses an undetectable amount of salt instead of commercial chlorine.

The Swimming Pool recently added won the International Design Award of Excellence—Silver Medal 2000, chosen by the National Spa & Pool Institute for free form pool design outside of the U.S. and Canada. Designed to blend into the river environment, the pool features an environmentally friendly purification system that uses an undetectable amount of salt. Indoors and outdoors loose their meaning at the lodge. Tortuga Lodge have almost as much window area as the walls. All the 24 rooms have a nice view of the Tortuguero River, as they sit close to this beautiful water runway.

The restaurant serves up meals family style and has a long multilevel deck perfect for enjoying the view. Tortuga Lodge’s dinning room and bar feature a verandah; the dining has been called “the best in Costa Rica” by many of the guests.
