i think that the Bran Castle / Draculas Castle should not be bought, this castle should be left how it is today. This castle is a historical landmark and there should be no one living in it, Transylvania should own it and have it not to be boughten…
There was alot of historical background in this castle. Just leave it alone.

Well the fact that Romania wants to buy it does not state whether or not it will be for public or private use. I once had a chance to stay there for Halloween but turned it down, Being half Romanian I do regret my choice but I am glad to know that there are still tours within the castle. If selling it means that it is private then no. I believe that The Counts castle should be preserved as historical but used so that Romania has a wonderful income coming in to bring diversity in finance and culture to their area.
I love the Mystery of his castle as well as his home.

I think that the castle is belongs to Romania and the history of the castle is here to stay i think if someone will buy it will be curse for life because the castle and Romania do not have dracula that was a folklord story invented by a german and i wish that people with more history and brain will understand that. As a Romania i think that what belongs to us it has nothing to do with the rest of the world and that is all . Alexandru

Another show of force by the socialist regime called the EU, it has been owned by the Hapsburgs and should stay in the family. Just because Romania wants to get there greedy little hands on something that attracts tourist dosnt make it right. Alexadru what if Romania wants to come in and take away youre home or appartment because they want to own it for the state how would that make you feel?

If Romania buy the castle and takes good care of it, preserve it and keep it in good condition, why not. It’s better than if the castle was being sold to a rich american who will fly the united states flag on top of it…

this castle is for sale, but not for just anyone. the owners have said they will only sell to someone who will keep the castle as is. theres a full museum inside, and is a very beautiful place. The castle where Vlad fled and died is futher up in the mountains and is the very celebrated and more well known castle where he and his wife died.

I think everyone is acting a little foolish. Of course it should be owned by someone, this isn’t the ocean, it’s a house, a really, really big and expensive house but that’s what it is. Also if someone is going to spend 60 mil euro’s (about 125 mill in U.S. dollars) then I’m sure they’re going to take care of it, that is a large investment. I only wished I had the money and I would buy it up in a heartbeat.

first of all Transylvania is a part of Romania…the royal family want’s to sell the place to the state becaus the castle belongs to the romanian people being a heritage of the great voievode Vlad Å¢epeÈ™ also known as “Vlad the Impaler”.

Oh stop this nonsense. A castle nick-named after the controversial figure, dracula should be burned down, not sold. Besides, I will not be visiting this place anyway.

First of all, I am american, Second, I agree that it is not America’s descition as to what happenes. Also, I am suprised to learn that the castle doesn’t already belong to Romania. I hope they get it and treat it well and take good care of it and keep it open to the public for tours. If the family wants to sell it, that is their business. If they sell it, I think the state of Romania is the only ones who should rightfully own the place. As long as it remains a historical landmark, who cares? Also, Vlad Tepes only stayed in that castle a few times, so I don’t see the big deal is other then to use it to make money. Which is fine to me.

Ewewew, you’re stupid. Do you even know who Vlad Tepes is? Not every one would agree that he was a bad guy. He did what he did for his country and in the name of god. Maybe he should have done things a little differently, but who’s to say? The fact is that Vlad is a historcal icon and part of Romania’s history. IF ANYONE is going to buy the castle, it should be Romania. They should restore it and take pride if only because its part of their history.

The issue at hand has nothing to do with America, or private organizations. The STATE wants to buy it, and the blog is asking if they should or shouldn’t be allowed from the Royal Family. I live in Resita, Romania, though i am an American. I believe the Royal Family, though, should keep the property. It is quite wealthy. Handing it over to the government so that it can get fat is a bad idea. The Socialistica Republica de Romania shouldn’t be able to take whatever they want, and the Royal Family should keep the land in its family line, instead of giving it away.

from what you are saying i can see that you dont know much about tepes either. He was similar to a communist. if you are american and agree with the constituion you will not say that. in the constitution it says that citizens are protected against exessive bail or bunishment. vlad tepes would spike you for stealing 2 cents. and it would take a few days to die, and not of the wound but of natural causes. evrybody was so terrified of him that there is a legend about an extremly rich merchant passing trough transilvanya.he asked tepes where he could store his gold for the night. tepes said to leave it on any alley ungarded and it wouldnt be touched. in the morning, guess what? evrything was there. and he spiked inocent people depending on his mood, or if he didnt like your face he would spike you
