With three quarters of the island designated as a National Park, the dense rainforest is home to a huge variety of native flora and fauna, including 150 species of birds, and the beautiful electric blue Ulysses butterfly (the island’s famous symbol). With a wingspan of up to 10 centimetres, making it one of the largest butterflies in Australia, and definitely the most beautiful.

Situated beachside the rooms offer virtually uninterrupted views over Brammo Bay with direct access to the beach. Set in small groups of four units (two units upstairs, two downstairs), Bayview Suites are bright and spacious with a queen bed. The interior is split level with sleeping area and a comfortable living area, including work desk with phone and Internet port, on the lower level. Dunk Island is situated just 7 kilometres (4 miles) east of the unspoiled Queensland coastal vacation resort village of Mission Beach midway between Townsville and Cairns.
